Fruit of Her Hands: Day Six

Proverbs 31:15

[15] She rises while it is yet night

and provides food for her household

and portions for her maidens.

Prayer

What we see in this verse is that the virtuous woman rises in the morning and is well prepared for the day ahead of her. No matter what season you may find yourself in right now, I'm sure you have many responsibilities. In order to steward them well, it's important to plan our days purposefully instead of flying by the seat of our pants. I'm not suggesting that we ought to have a very rigid schedule or every minute accounted for, but having a general plan for each day is an important part of ensuring that you are fruitful and making wise use of your time.

Today, be praying that God would help you to be a woman who is ready and equipped with a plan and purpose for each day.

Application

You might have felt a knot form in your stomach when you read "rises while it is yet night" and dreaded this section because you knew I might suggest waking up early. I'll be the first to confess that I really struggle in this area! The wonderful thing about this is there is no right time to wake up in the morning. Earlier does not equal holier. Maybe you do need to wake up at 5am to get a head start on the day. Or maybe for you this simply means waking up 15 minutes earlier so you can get dressed, make your bed, and think about what needs to be accomplished for the day.

Evaluate the needs of your family and make a plan to rise early. Ask the Lord to bless your time of preparation and help you to do it joyfully!
