Fruit of Her Hands: Day Eleven

Proverbs 31:20

[20] She opens her hand to the poor

and reaches out her hands to the needy.

Prayer Point

Stingy hands come from stingy hearts, so

pray that the Lord would make your heart soft to the poor and needy. Pray also that the Holy Spirit would bring about an opportunity for you today to bless someone in need. Be reminded that poor and needy can be of spirit or of body.

Application

This verse gives two distinctive actions: opening the hands and reaching out. Today be prepared to do both. Opening your hands requires a willingness for someone to take something from you that you may or may not have planned for. This might be a lady who approaches you at the gas station and asks you to fill her tank up or a down-trodden son who comes home from school needing extra encouragement. Give freely! Reaching out, on the other hand requires intentionality. You're surrounded by humans daily. There's bound to be someone who comes to mind that is in need. Don't wait for them to ask you to open your hand, reach out! It could be as simple as a voice memo prayer sent to a friend who is sad or a $100 bill slipped under someone's door.

Be wary of doing these things for show. We don't give because we ought to, we give as an act of faith. Giving freely reminds our flesh that we belong to Christ and in him we lack nothing!
